Figures from different fields have come together to condemn the invasion of Ukraine after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his offensive last 23 February.
One of the first was the actor Javier Bardem, who led the demonstration in front of the Russian Embassy in Madrid to demand an end to the attacks.
“I have come in a personal capacity to express my condemnation of this absurd and cruel attack by Putin on Ukraine”, he sentenced.
Among those who echoed on social media were rapper Cardi B, Cher, Miley Cyrus, Mark Ruffalo, The Weeknd , Carlos Rivera, Thalía, Penélope Cruz, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Irina Shayk, Camila Cabello and athletes such as Vasyl Kravets and Fedor Smolov, a Russian player for Dinamo Moscow.
“Unfortunately, I am now seeing what is happening with the conflict. I pray for everyone’s safety, ”said The Weeknd.
“It breaks my heart to stand up and witness this news. I will always be grateful to the local community that welcomed me with open arms. I join in solidarity with all those who have been affected by these attacks against Ukraine, and with the global community that is demanding an immediate end to the violence”, said Miley Cyrus.
