pep-guardiola-pronounces-on-the-ukraine-russia-conflict:-“human-beings-do-not-learn-from-their-past”

The Spanish coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, expressed his rejection of the current conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which began this Thursday morning and in just over 10 hours, has claimed the lives of many people and has forced others to flee their homes.

In this sense, Guardiola questioned people and accused them of not learning from historical facts. “The human being does not learn from his past,” he said while he spoke of the price that the innocent have had to pay for this. “A lot of innocent people will pay a terrible price for the decisions of a couple of people,” he added.

On the other hand, the City coach was consulted about the situation of the Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is part of his squad and caused controversy after wishing the death of the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

“Yes, I have spoken with him. They all have. He has our unconditional support. He is a very strong boy. It is not easy, it is not a simple situation, but he has trained normally. He is ready to play if needed,” he commented.

In this sense, Guardiola invited people to put themselves in Zinchenko’s place so that they would understand the reason for his words. “How would we be if the country in which we were born, in which their families and friends live, is attacked, if innocent people die? That’s how he feels,” he stressed.

“There are too many wars all over the world. It’s a shame, because innocent people will die when they just want to live in peace. People want to have a house, sleep well, food on the table, watch movies, read books, have someone to love,” he added.

Finally, the former coach of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, stressed that the consequences of these armed conflicts are only paid the inocents. “Innocent people are going to pay a terrible price for the decisions of one or two people. We do not learn from what has happened in the past”, he sentenced.
