After all the controversy generated by the proposal for the Europa Super League, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus, teams that still make it up, are trying to relaunch this project, according to the British media outlet ‘The Telegraph’.
This project, which was initially launched by the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, in a few days caused some controversy in the world of football as several of the big clubs in Europe expressed their support, however, after threatened by their respective leagues and UEFA itself, most of these withdrew.
Now, ‘The Telegraph’ has indicated that the three remaining members intend to relaunch this proposal but with certain different nuances, which would lead to the Super League being held sooner rather than later.
The proposals that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus will make will be presented next week in which the first to speak will be the president of the Italian club, Andrea Agnelli.
The first point to touch upon will be to eliminate the original idea of the permanent presence of certain clubs, which would cause access to this tournament to be through merit, that is to say that the position in the league tables will play a fundamental role for this.
For its part, the other proposal that sounds a little more utopian or at least not possible in the short term, would be the creation of high-level teams in cities that still do not have football clubs, including Dublin (Ireland) and Luxembourg, reports ‘The Telegraph’.
It should be noted that a few days ago the ESPN network reported that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus would be planning friendly matches in the United States during the summer, however, it was not specified whether these meetings were intended to promote the Super League.
