This Thursday 24 in February, the Premio Lo Nuestro ceremony was held at the FTX in Miami. This event that honors the Latin music artists who excelled during the past year. The event was attended by numerous personalities from the world of music and various talents from the Univision network, in charge of carrying out and broadcasting the show.
However, in the midst of the joy expressed by all the attendees, Univision received strong criticism for holding the event in the midst of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In various Instagram posts made by the channel, they left comments about it. They were even told that they lack “empathy” with the victims of the armed conflict.
“Now yes, now yes! @jomarigoyso is more than ready for the parade on the magenta carpet of #PremioLoNuestro,” the television channel wrote in a publication. These are some of the messages left by users of social networks to Univision after the award ceremony began:
“And on the other side of the world a war, where innocents are dying for the evil of a man”, “I find it a shame to see how they are celebrating those awards while on the other side of the world there are so many people who are suffering and dying right now”, “There is a war, children dying and these clowns partying” , “We live in such a superficial world that what matters most to them is how they dress” and “Celebrating in the middle of a war is that these people are thinking that they have no heart”.
Likewise, in another publication they were told: “The world is in full invasion between Russia and Ukraine and you don’t show a little empathy?”, “The world is falling apart and these are hanging…”.
Despite of the criticism they received through social networks, the event was held. At the ceremony they paid tribute to Vicente Fernández in which Ángela Aguilar, Christian Nodal, Grupo Firme, Camilo and David Bisbal participated.
The top winner of the night was Bad Bunny, who did not attend the ceremony. The Puerto Rican won six awards.
