The NHS notes that most small kidney stones can be passed in the urine and can probably be treated at home. In addition to treatment, drinking plenty of fluids, avoiding carbonated beverages, drinking water with lemon juice and not eating too much salt, will help eliminate stones.

When kidney stones are too large to remove them naturally, they are usually removed by surgery.
