After more than two days of uncertainty and terror due to Russia’s bombing of Ukraine, a group of Brazilian soccer players managed to escape from Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, bound for Romania, however, in an unreliable way. understandable, a futsal player was forgotten in the hotel.

Thanks to the efforts made by the Brazilian Government, the footballers from that country who play for Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Kiev managed to leave the Ukrainian capital on a train, however when they reached the border with Romania they realized that one of their compatriots was missing.

This is Matheus Ramires, a futsal player who belongs to the Kiev Skyup and who, due to “carelessness”, stayed in the hotel where they were meeting while his teammates left the the conflict zone.

According to what Ramires himself told the news channel Globonews, that after lunch he went to take a bath and when he returned the group had already left the place without notifying him. “We all want to go out, we are all Brazilians. Very good that they were able to do it, but I would never have left a Brazilian behind. In fact, when the club brought us to the hotel, we pushed for a Brazilian student to come to the ‘bunker,’” he said.

For their part, the Brazilian authorities reported that the group of almost 50 citizens of said country was notified 40 minutes before leaving for the nearest train station where a chartered train was going to take them to Chernivtsi, a region near the Romanian border.

In this sense, Foreign Minister Carlos França, “activated the ‘Brazilians in Ukraine’ Working Group, a nucleus of support for nationals in that country and which will be in charge of coordinating the emergency actions and implement a contingency plan for safe and orderly withdrawal”, the Ministry quoted in a note.

This movement by the Government of the South American country occurred after the group of players and their families broadcast a video through social networks, requesting the help of their country and international authorities to leave Ukraine.

In turn, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) indicated that they have two KC-390 multimission aircraft to carry out an eventual transfer of its citizens and other South Americans who are on Ukrainian soil which was militarily invaded by Russia.

In fact, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry indicated that other Brazilians and South American citizens managed to cross the border with Romania and are already with the mission that traveled from Bucharest and awaits the group of athletes and their families .
