Former President Donald Trump said this Saturday that Russia’s invasion of Ukrainian territory could mean the start of a world war, and warned that President Biden will have to do much more than sanctions to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In statements offered to Fox News, within the framework of his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Trump lamented that there was a conflict like the one that has been going on and pointed out that the war between Russia and Ukraine “should never have happened”.

“They are showing great courage and I think they are doing a great job, much more than anyone would have thought possible”, indicated the former president in reference to the Ukrainian contention in the face of the Russian attack.

Regarding the sanctions imposed in recent days by the United States and its allies, Tr ump emphasized: “I suspect that they will have to do more than sanctions.” , China, pointed out Reuters.

Furthermore, during the speech, he stated that he was praying for the Ukrainians, contrasting with his controversial statements given earlier in the week in which he praised Putin’s actions and cataloged him as of “someone very smart”.

“The Russian attack on Ukraine is appalling. We are praying for the pride of the Ukrainian people. God bless you all,” Trump said, referring to Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky as someone “brave.”

His speech at the conservative conference comes hours after the United States and its allies reported that some Russian banks will be removed from the international Swift system, according to a statement published by the White House.

He took advantage of criticizing Biden saying that Putin attacked Ukraine because in his opinion, the US president was “weak”, and he bragged that if he had won the presidency of 2020, the crisis between the two European nations would not have occurred.

“As everyone understands, this horrible disaster would never have occurred if our election had not been manipulated and if I were the president”, he pointed out.

Although he has not confirmed whether he will seek to run for the presidency in 2024, he has hinted during his remarks at CPAC.

“In November of 2024, they (the Democrats) will find out like never before before. We did it twice and we will do it again. We will do it again, a third time,” Trump warned.
