In the midst of the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, a large number of Russian scientists and popularizers have issued an open letter in which they express their rejection of the military invasion by the Kremlin.
Some 600 science professionals stated in the text, published on the TrV-Nauka website -specialized in scientific news- that the war “is unjust and frankly senseless”.
Among the signatories of the letter is the physicist Konstantin Novoselov, winner of the Nobel Prize, as well as many other important members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“There is no rational justification. Attempts to use the situation in Donbas as a pretext to launch a military operation do not inspire confidence. It is clear that Ukraine does not represent a threat to the security of our country”, reads the statement released by ABC.
Likewise, the group of scientists lamented the human losses as a result of the Russian invasion.
“The responsibility for unleashing a new war in Europe falls eternally on Russia”, they pointed out.
