jurgen-klopp-surrendered-to-caoimhin-kelleher:-he-is-the-best-number-two-in-the-world

Liverpool reigned supreme in English football after beating Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea FC on penalties with a score of by 9, after being matched in regulation time zero to zero. But the effectiveness of those from Anfield was not the only thing that was most striking, but the irruption of the Irish goalkeeper, Caoimhín Kelleher with an enormous performance, served for the German coach Jürgen Klopp to surrender to him.

“Alisson is the best goalkeeper but, for me, Caoimhín is the best number two in the world, especially because of the way we played. He made two incredible saves and then, in the shootout, he didn’t just show the full range of his skills down to the kick. He is absolutely crazy”, added Klopp after the meeting.

Kelleher, was the highlight of the match thanks to his innumerable saves to prevent the current king of Europe from taking the victory ; but what they never imagined is that the 23 year old Irishman was in charge of scoring the championship goal.

“It’s crazy. I got close to some shots, I put some hand… but I didn’t even think I had scored the winning penalty. I forgot it! All the penalty kicks from teammates were top class, so I’m happy to score. It was a shot of hope”, Kelleher commented to Sky Sport.

The performance of the Irishman from 23 years was so wonderful in all aspects that Klopp himself recognized how good he is and how important he has been in the English club throughout this tournament and as if that were not enough, he showed his skills as a good kicker.

“He is a wonderful boy and a sensational talent. He has a bright future. He is growing little by little, not only muscularly because Liverpool reinforced his work in the gym. He is very good with his feet and he is a very calm person, which helps him as a goalkeeper, “Klopp continued.

Despite the fact that Kelleher has been under the shadow of Alisson Becker, who is the starting goalkeeper and one of the figures of the Anfield team. However, the young European has found a way to get his place and thus play important games.

Furthermore, the Irishman will have the opportunity from now on to give himself the toupee of being present in Liverpool’s famous mural where all the goalkeepers of the team who have managed to raise a champion’s trophy are present.

“Even in professional football you should have room for feelings. Caoimhín is a young boy, he has played in the whole tournament, what should he do? I am two things: a professional coach and a human being. And the human won! I know he deserves it”, concluded the German coach.

In this way, Liverpool once again celebrated a title in the era of Jürgen Klopp and their solid project not only passed only up front with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and the Colombian newcomer Luis Díaz; but also the two goalkeepers are being fundamental to the success of the Anfield team.
