5-things-you-did-not-know-that-you-can-already-buy-with-cryptocurrencies

There are more and more products and services that can be paid for with cryptocurrencies. Here are five of them.

1–Cable services

If you use the Sling TV cable service, you can use cryptocurrencies to prepay for your service monthly. Sling TV uses BitPay, a crypto-enabled payment processor that can handle the transaction.

However, Sling TV is not the only way to watch TV and pay with cryptocurrencies. Dish Network, which owns Sling TV and Dish TV, has been allowing crypto payments to be made through BitPay for several years.

2–Phone Service

AT&T has been processing online bill payment transactions with BitPay since 2019.

It’s a little more difficult to pay for phone service with Verizon or T-Mobile, but a company called Bitrefill allows you to purchase multiple gift cards with cryptocurrency and then use those cards to make purchases. This includes paying your Verizon cell phone bill or getting a T-Mobile card that you can use for purchases and services.

3–Coffee

Yes If you’re ready to pay for your Starbucks coffee with crypto, you can download the Bakkt app to do so. With Bakkt, you can convert crypto to top up your Starbucks card and then use it at your nearest branch. You can also check with local coffee shops to see if they accept cryptocurrencies.

On the SpendBitcoins website you can also find cafes, as well as other types of restaurants and food services that accept cryptocurrencies.

4–Sports tickets

The Dallas Mavericks made headlines in 2021 when they became the first sports team to accept the Dogecoin cryptocurrency as a form of ticket payment and merchandise. However, prior to that, the Mavericks had been accepting Bitcoin as payment for a couple of years.

Other sports teams also accept cryptocurrencies, including the Oakland A’s and Miami Dolphins, who adopted Litecoin as their official cryptocurrency in 2019.

5–Pizza

Every year, on 16 May, crypto enthusiasts celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day, which marks the anniversary of the first known cryptocurrency trade transaction that occurred in 2010.

On that occasion, a man spent 10,000 bitcoins to buy two pizzas. Back then, Bitcoin was much less valuable, and the transaction amounted to just a few dollars.

Nowadays, you can buy pizza with cryptocurrencies, but you have to use third-party apps like Lightning Pizza, that helps you order Domino’s.
