adele's-'30'-named-world-album-of-the-year

IFPI, the organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide, announced on March 1 that ’30 ‘, Adele’s latest recording material, dominated the global list of all album formats for 2021.

However, the British singer not only has the best-selling album, but also ranked first on both the global and vinyl album sales charts.

Adele’s long-awaited fourth album, released last November 19, sold more than five million copies alone two months, the IFPI said in a statement released from its London headquarters, marking its “return to music” after a six-year hiatus since publication in 1200 from ’25’.

“It’s been wonderful to have Adele back and releasing music for the second half of last year. Her dominance of all three IFPI album charts speaks to her unique songwriting talent, her iconic voice and her unrelenting worldwide popularity. After its release in November of 2015, ’30’ surpassed more than five million physical album-equivalent units in 2021 alone, in less than two months,” IFPI Executive Director Frances Moore said in the note.

’30’ reached number one in more than 20 countries, including the UK, where it spent five weeks at the top of the Official Albums Chart. In the United States, the single ‘Easy On Me’, from the same album, became the third work of the British artist to reach the top of the Billboard Hot list 100.

“We are delighted to award Adele and her entire team with the ‘Global Album in all formats’ and send you huge congratulations on a stellar year”, said the IFPI.

‘Sour’, by Olivia Rodrigo, ranked second on the list of the 10 best albums in the world in all formats, followed by ‘Justice’, by Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.

In fifth position was The Weeknd with ‘After hours’, Dua Lipa with ‘Future Nostalgia’, The Kid LAROI with ‘F×CK LOVE (Mix Tape)’, ABBA with ‘Voyage’, Morgan Wallen with ‘ Dangerous: The Double Album’ and Doja Cat with ‘Planet Her’.
