The technology giant Apple announced on Tuesday that it temporarily suspended the sale of its products in Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine.

The company added in a statement that it also limited access to the system payment system Apple Pay and that it stopped offering certain information on the maps of Ukraine in its Apple Maps application in order to protect the safety of Ukrainian citizens.

In addition, Apple’s App Store already will not allow the applications of the Russian network RT and the Sputnik agency to be downloaded outside of Russia.

Likewise, Apple explained that last week it stopped exporting the products destined to be sold s in the Russian market, such as iPhone or iPad.

“We are very concerned about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and we are together with those people who are suffering due to violence”, the company said in its note.

The company announced that it will continue evaluating the situation and said that it is in contact with several governments. “We join all those around the world who are calling for peace,” added Apple.

After months of tension, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine six days ago that has left more than a hundred of deaths, according to the UN, although the Ukrainian authorities raise the death toll to more than 350.

More of 150,000 Ukrainians have fled Ukraine in less of 24 hours, which implies that the number of refug who have entered one of the neighboring countries now reaches 677,000, explained this Tuesday the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.
