Chris Hemsworth will finally put aside the hero cape to become the villain of a movie, specifically, that of ‘Furiosa’, the long-awaited prequel to ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.
The ‘Thor’ actor will face the titular female character, played in her youth by Anya Taylor-Joy, in the film that will be released until 2024. The name of his character has not yet been confirmed.
Speaking with journalist Kyle Buchanan in his book “Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild And True Story Of Mad Max: Fury Road”, the producer and first assistant director of Fury Road, PJ Voeten, spoke about the casting of Hemsworth.
“George Miller (director of the film) initially saw Chris as a courtesy and then fell in love with the idea“, he explained through the specialized portal Slash Film.
“He is going to play and act totally against what is expected, because he will be the main bad guy. Unfortunately, we have to find all of our other characters that are gone: a new Immortan, a new Bullet Farmer, and a few others.”
Miller had previously said that he had considered bringing Charlize Theron back. , who played Furiosa in Fury Road, but decided against it.
“For a long time, I thought we could use special effects to make Charlize younger, but I don’t think we’re close to that yet,” said the filmmaker about it.
“Despite the valiant attempts in ‘The Irishman’, I think there is still a long way to go. Everyone is close to figuring it out, Japanese game designers in particular, but there are still a lot of challenges ahead, I think.”
