Ryan García’s break with the Canelo Team continues to add new seasonings to a novel that itches and spreads. Saúl Canelo Álvarez in recent days insinuated that the 20 year old boxer, who competes in light weight, is undisciplined and that it was the reason for his departure.
“I don’t know what’s going on, I don’t know what he’s thinking. He says he wants more time, right? Well, Eddy Reynoso has all the time to himself. Eddy was here last year, he was here for Christmas and New Year, all for him (Ryan García),” Álvarez told ESNEWS.
‘Kingry’ García did not wait for an interview to tell his reasons and respond to the unified champion. He used his Twitter account to express himself.
“Canelo doesn’t know the facts, the first camp I had with Eddy was great, then everything went wrong, he only showed up two weeks before the Fonseca fight and that’s when I asked my manager to talk to him about the search for a new coach. Vergil Ortiz left because Eddy never showed up. Frank Sanchez had a fight where Eddy only showed up on the day of the fight, so ask Canelo to explain that to you! Let’s stop the back and forth and focus on the fights at hand… by the way, I have nothing but respect for Eddy, it’s just the truth, “he wrote.
And to add a touch of mystery, García left the real reason why he left Eddy Reynoso and agreed with a new coach to the imagination. “The truth is also that that’s not even the main reason why I let the deciders split up. Canelo knows why I’ll keep it to myself and focus on the fight I have,” he admitted.
Canelo indirectly called García undisciplined
“He fights and wins with Campbell and then something happens with him so I don’t know but Eddy has all the time for all the fighters, ask Oscar, Frank Sanchez, ask everyone here. If you are disciplined and have time to go to the gym and train really well, then Eddy will always be there with discipline too. I’ve been with Eddy many years so I saw Eddy when a lot of fighters come to the gym and really good fighters and he has all the time but if I saw you come today and train 20 minutes and then go and you don’t come 4 days or 3 days and then the next day you say I’m going to come to the gym at 12 and you come at 2, so you have to be disciplined”.
