The Italian striker for Adana Demirspor (Turkey) Mario Balotelli compared himself to the Argentinian Leo Messi and the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and affirmed that their quality “is at the same level as theirs”.
“I have missed some opportunities to reach the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, but I am 100% sure that my quality is at the same level as yours”, collects the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport from the interview it publishes The Athletic.
The controversial striker acknowledged that he has made many big mistakes throughout his football career, and among them his departure from Manchester City stood out .
“My head has led me to make many mistakes. One of the first was leaving Manchester City. In the year and a half that followed I did well at Milan, but City started to grow. I should have done like Agüero and stayed there for a long time”, he said.
Decision that, according to the American media, has cost him a Ballon d’Or: “I would have been among the protagonists and, I’m sure I would have won at least one Ballon d’Or. With the mentality I have today, I’m sure I would have done it”.
In addition, Balotelli spoke about the Champions League he won with Inter and the league championship he won with City.
“The ‘Champions’ is the best thing you can win with a club, but that league won with City after so long in the history of the club, and also in the last second of the last day, it was something crazy”, he sentenced.
The Italian international returned this January to a call-up with the ‘Azzurri’ after more than three years without participating with the national team and aims to enter the list of the Italian Roberto Mancini for the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
