Malik Samartaney formerly known as Lawrence Banks, aged 68, was sentenced by the Baltimore authorities to 41 years in prison for the murder of his daughter Dominique Foster, aged 43, in May 2019.

According to the facts of the case, Samartaney killed his daughter after expressing his anger at her drug addiction, reason why which Circuit Judge Jennifer Schiffer handed down the maximum punishments against the Baltimore man and argued that it was indecipherable to think how the victim suffered.

“When he got into the truck of his father, that day, he had no way of knowing that he would end up in pieces in a shopping cart, “said Jennifer Schiffer.

The investigators of the case indicated that the remains of the Foster were found inside of some garbage bags in a shopping cart after local residents alerted the authorities about a A suspicious package near a dumpster.

Although some remains were found, the woman’s head, hands and feet were never found by the authorities .

The defendant’s legal representative, Deborah Levi, argued that Dominique Foster could have been murdered by a member of the MS-13 and that his client would not allow himself to be blamed for his daughter’s death, so he plans to appeal his sentence.

Although the police did not was able to link Malik Samartaney to the crime with DNA evidence or a murder weapon, prosecutors based their case on circumstantial evidence, such as the testimony of his ex-fiancée, who claimed she had unusual difficulty communicating with him on day of murder.

In addition, prosecutors relied on the criminal history of the man who has two prior convictions for murder; in 1990, Malik Samartaney pleaded guilty to killing a friend and made no argument for killing his teenage son, for which he received concurrent sentences of 20 years in prison and was released in 2002.

For If that were not enough, the authorities announced that when Foster was seven months old, her father threw her with all his might against a glass door.

Malik Samartaney asked the judge for mercy and He stated that he swore to God that he would not kill again after the death of his son: “I am very sorry for the death of my daughter, but I did not do that. I dream every night that I find the person who did that”.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family has requested a long sentence for whoever caused the death of the mother, grandmother and sister.
