A band called Artikal Sound System has just filed a lawsuit against Dua Lipa for the authorship of her song ‘Levitating’, one of the most successful singles from her album by 2020 ‘Future Nostalgia’.
TMZ reports that members of the reggae band allege that ‘Levitating’ is a copy of their song by 2017 ‘Live Your Life’. They are also naming Dua’s record label, Warner Records, and others as defendants seeking high damages in redress for alleged plagiarism, as well as a significant portion of the profits that ‘Levitating’ has consistently generated since its release.
That resemblance between the two compositions would be noticeable in their respective choruses, then Dua Lipa and her record company could end up in court.
The singer’s representatives, At the moment, they remain silent about these serious accusations.
The British star is currently working on his new record project, which he already announced would mean a change of direction from ‘Future Nostalgia’ and that it would even already have a provisional title, which it has not wanted to reveal.
Artikal Sound System is a reggae band with Based in South Florida, founded in 2012 as a duo before adding more musicians and vocalist Logan Rex. The group released ‘Live Your Life’ on their EP ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ by 2017.
