Leeds United confirmed this Monday the signing of Jesse Marsch, former manager of RB Leipzig, as a substitute for Argentine Marcelo Bielsa.
Bielsa was fired last Sunday , after losing 0-4 against Tottenham Hotspur, adding the fourth consecutive loss, with a total of 17 goals conceded.
Marsch, 48 years old, was Ralf Rangnick’s assistant coach at RB Leipzig, in addition to having passed through the Salzburg, the Red Bull New York and the Montreal Impact. His last job was with Leipzig, but as head coach, until he left last December.
Víctor Orta, Leeds sporting director, confessed that they had Marsch on the radar for many years , and they believe that their philosophy and style of play align with what the club wants, as the players will adapt very well.
“We have a long-term plan that we strongly believe in and that will take Leeds to the next level,” added Orta.
Marsch arrives at this Leeds to get them out of the bottom of the table, and secure the position in the Premier League for the second year in a row. The Whites are sixteenth in the standings, two points clear of relegation.
