The late singer Joan Sebastian had the idea of building a restaurant almost 20 years ago. The property where he would build it was the childhood home of actress Salma Hayek. The project never materialized.
Recently, after seven years of the singer’s death, the property has been in the news again due to its state of abandonment. Media assure that the place is in ruins.
The property is located in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz state, and was purchased from the actress’s father, who is called Sami Hayek.
When Joan Sebastian was still alive, he inherited this property to his son Julián Figueroa. The also son of Maribel Guardia assures that when his father bought the property it was already in ruins and that it was not he who destroyed it.
Julián Figueroa is also the current owner of a ranch in Cuernavaca that was recently put up for rent, it is said that this decision was made to cover economic expenses.
The The restaurant that they wanted to build, according to the actress’s father, was going to be called “Salma” and they had discussed the possibility of her attending the opening day.
According to what Sami Hayek told the “Ventaneando” program, Joan Sebastian knew that he wanted to build a restaurant when he saw the property’s kitchen. He also says that a month before his death he had told him that he was in contact with the engineers to do the lifting of the floor.
