According to the NYPD, he approached an 57 year old Asian woman and punched her in the the face, without prior interaction. The victim suffered swelling and a cut lip, and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Some 10 minutes later, the same man hit another Asian woman from 25 years near 5th Avenue and 30 th Street, without saying a word, according to the police.
The suspect moved to Gramercy Park for his next attack. Around 6: 45 pm, near Park Avenue South and East 23rd Street, approached an Asian woman from 21 years and punched him in the face, without exchanging words.
The following two assaults occurred at Irving Place and Union Square with 11th St. Later, two more attacks occurred in Lower Manhattan: East Houston and Mott St (7: 25 pm) and Broadway and East 8th St (8: 37 pm).
The attacks occurred as the Asian community in New York City continues to express fear and frustration over the wave of unprovoked assaults, including four homicides in two months.
Mayor Eric Adams, a former NYPD, recently said he would renew the New York City Police Hate Crimes Task Force. York. “I think we were always a little slow in saying what would be investigated as a possible hate crime,” he said, quoted by Pix17.
