The young Dominican of the Tampa Bay Rays, Wander Franco, continues to pay the consequences of being a rookie in the MLB and this time he was the victim of a heavy joke by his teammates after having made a “carelessness” in his arrival at Spring Training.
Wander Franco made the mistake of parking his truck in Rays general manager Erik Neanders’s spot, so his manager Kevin Cash orchestrated a little prank on the Dominican, taking his truck into the stadium where the players performed their exercises.
The moment was captured by journalist Tricia Whitaker who was conducting an interview and was interrupted by Cash, who told her what was about to happen. The recording also captured the reaction of the organization’s number one prospect who couldn’t believe what happened.
This is not the first time that the American League East Division team has gone viral for some “joke” between the players and it is that since the time when Joe Maddon was the team leader, they began to use costumes when traveling to play games as visitors.
For his part, the Dominican shortstop who is considered one of the best youngsters in baseball, will experience his second season in the Major Leagues, seeking to consolidate himself as one of the leaders of the team with which he also signed a juicy extension for $223 million dollars.
In his first MLB campaign, Franco finished third in voting for the award Rookie of the Year, after posting an average of .288 with seven home runs, 39 races i RBIs, 53 runs scored, two stolen bases and an OPS of .550 in in 70 games.
