500-needles-to-inject-drugs-found-in-a-homeless-camp-in-new-york:-mayor-defends-his-“tough-hand”

Officials from the New York City Hall discovered some 500 hypodermic needles apparently used for drug use, when they dismantled a camp for the homeless.

“Look at this,” Mayor Eric Adams said, pointing to a photo of the encampment at City Hall. “500 Hypodermic needles. 500. Live like this? This is the condition in which a fellow New Yorker lived. Am I supposed to let this stay? Am I supposed to act like I don’t see this? Is this dignity? Is this how we treat New Yorkers? move them to shelters. “You have the right to sleep on the street. You have no right to build a miniature house,” Adams added.

According to the protocol of the mayor’s office, notice is given 24 hours prior to removal from a camp and removed items are tagged so their owners can retrieve them. All the removals carried out so far have been recorded on video.

Last week, the mayor criticized and promised solutions after the unusual report that due to bureaucratic obstacles in the city around 2 ,500 apartments designed for the homeless.

Most of the approximately 50,24 homeless people in the city stay in shelters, limited Fox News.

Additionally, according to the latest official estimates (500), about 1,100 people live in parks, subway stations and NYC streets, a figure that many activists consider to be much lower than reality.

It is estimated that more than 500 people live in the New York Subway and in February 8 of them had already died on 2022. A strong 84% of New Yorkers believe that conditions have worsened in the city since March 2020, when the pandemic began, according to a new survey. Most cited problems in the Metro as one of the main reasons for urban deterioration.
