The Razzie Awards rescinded the award for worst performance to Bruce Willis after his diagnosis of aphasia.
“After much thought and consideration, the Razzies made the decision to rescind the award given to Bruce Willis, due to his recently revealed diagnosis.
“If someone’s medical condition is a factor in their decision-making and/or performance, we recognize that it is not appropriate to give them a Razzie“, Razzies co-founders John Wilson and Mo Murphy said in a statement.
In 2021, the actor received a Razzie Award in the category of Worst Performance for his work in the movie ‘Cosmic Sin’.
In the same statement, the organization also announced that it will rescind the award given to Shelley Duvall in 1980 in the same category.
“As we recently mentioned in a Vulture interview, mitigating circumstances also apply to Shelley Duvall in ‘The Shining’. We have since discovered that Duvall’s performance was affected by Stanley Kubrick’s treatment of her throughout production.”
