they-manage-to-arrest-a-great-bicycle-thief-thanks-to-google-maps

There is no doubt that one of the most useful tools, especially when we don’t know a place and we have to move around it, is Google Maps, because it not only gives us directions in real time on how to get to a certain point determined.

But also one of the things that many Internet users are passionate about Google Maps are the satellite or terrestrial images that make up this tool since sometimes, many of them keep stories or curious anecdotes.

As happened recently in the United Kingdom, where the Oxfordshire county police just managed to find a major bicycle thief thanks to Google Maps.

Using a satellite image captured by this tool, the police discovered several mounds of bicycles inside a property. This helped them last 17 March to raid the house located on Giles Road in Littlemore, where indeed, found near 500 bikes.

The local authorities had reports of these thefts for 5 years; however, they had not been able to find the thief.

The police investigation began when residents of that city filed complaints reporting the presence of rodents due to the accumulation of bicycles in a neighbor’s house .

Finally, the arrest of a 54 year-old man was achieved, on suspicion of handling stolen goods and possession of criminal property; however, he was released only 17 hours later.

“A large number of bicycles, believed to have been stolen, have been recovered from the property. The officers are currently in the process of identifying the ownership of the bicycles”, commented the authorities.
