A woman in a striking orange wig was caught brazenly throwing a cinder block at the window of a parked Manhattan taxi, then entering the vehicle to steal an iPhone and cash in broad daylight, police said. .
The suspect, dressed entirely in black and carrying an animal-print bag, acted casual as she strolled through West 37th Street near Hudson Yards mid-morning Thursday 24, with the heavy block in hand.
The NYPD released a video of the unusual sequence. “What are you doing?” someone can be heard asking the woman, who repeatedly looked towards the camera.
Then, the footage shows her suddenly throwing the cement block through the driver’s side window of the taxi, it was parked and empty. Then climb up the hole created to grab items and run away, discarding the orange wig along the way.
