A 11 year old boy died last night in Brooklyn after being hit by several bullets while inside a minivan in a shooting that also injured a woman, the NYPD said.

Around 7: 45 pm, the two victims were in a parked vehicle with an 8-year-old girl near Linden Boulevard and East 45th Street in East Flatbush when someone opened fire. All three are relatives and residents of the area. They had stopped to eat something, police said according to the preliminary investigation.

The boy died of multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said. The 20 year old woman, who was in the driver’s seat, was shot three times. She was in surgery last night at Kings County Hospital, in stable condition. The 8-year-old girl was unharmed, detailed Pix11.

Police officials said they were not sure what the motive for the shooting might have been, whether the victims were targeted on purpose or by stray bullets, or mistaken for other people. The NYPD was initially investigating two black sedans seen in the area: one driving down East 58th Street and the other along Linden Boulevard.

A source said investigators are considering the possibility that the occupants of both vehicles shot at each other, hitting the family car.

The Mayor Eric Adams was briefed on the shooting, a spokesman said. He went to the scene last night and promised to catch the shooter. “We are going to do our job. We need everyone to help us end this senseless violence,” he said.
