More than 20 pre-k and kindergarten children were hospitalized in New Jersey after they drank “non-toxic consumable disinfectant” from milk cartons.

The Camden City School District took to social media to reveal that after students at the Camden Early Childhood Development Center drank the disinfectant they were rushed to a nearby hospital as a precaution, but not because none of the infants presented a serious problem.

School officials reported that the disinfectant that came in the milk cartons is used to clean the machines before filling them with the drink, but by mistake the boxes were filled with disinfectant and not with milk, they were sealed and sent with other milk containers, for which they are investigating a possible “contamination of the milk”. determined that the substance found in the containers is a non-toxic consumable disinfectant. or what goes through the vending machines before the milk. Unfortunately, many containers were filled with the disinfectant,” authorities wrote.

Likewise, they reported that all the milk that was sent to the schools in the same “package” was removed and no more will be served until it is determined that no container is contaminated with said disinfectant: “We removed all the milk today and NO milk will be served until the investigation is complete.”

Services arrived on campus: “No students are currently sick, but they were sent to the hospital as a precaution.”

So far it is known that an “unknown” odor near the packaging of the milks alerted the staff of the Camden Early Childhood Development Center and it was then that they realized that there was no milk in the containers, but another substance.

The Camden Early Childhood Development Center It has not been the only school affected, it is joined by four or more.

The mother of one of the affected children revealed to CBS 3 that she received a call informing her that her son had drunk contaminated milk: “When that message said that the milk was contaminated with a sanitary cleaning product, that is not going to please any parent”.
