Hormel Foods, owner of Skippy, announced the voluntary recall of 9,353 boxes or 161,692 pounds, of peanut butter products, due to the possibility that a limited number of jars may contain a small stainless steel fragment from a piece of manufacturing equipment.
Through a statement, the brand apologized to its customers and pointed out that this recall only affects a very limited number of products that involve Skippy Reduced Fat Peanut Butter Spread and Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter Blended with Vegetable Protein.
According to the information the states to which the affected product was shipped are: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illions, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
How to identify the product?
Verify that your product Skippy is one of the affected UPC numbers, which are printed on the side of the jar where the store scans the product. Recalled products have the UPC code: 37600-10667, 37600-10667, 37600-4779 or 37600-88095.
If your bottle has the following dates for the corresponding UPC, it is part of the recall, you can check this on the cap of the product where it says “BEST IF USED FOR”.
