Lionel Messi could not end this season without making history at PSG. In the 1-6 win over Clermont, the Argentine provided three assists: two to Kylian Mbappé and one to Neymar. With this he achieved his second goal assist hat-trick in Ligue 1, becoming the first player to do so in history.
His first assists hat-trick of the season was achieved by 28 November 2021 against Saint-Étienne. That night PSG won 1-3 with goals from Marquinhos (2) and Ángel Di María.
On this occasion, the Paris team’s win was scandalous. As well as Lionel Messi’s football exhibition, which has finally consolidated with PSG and his understanding with Mbappé and Neymar has been notorious in recent days.
Messi reached 13 assists, placing him behind Mbappé (14) in the leaderboard.
There are seven games left for the end of Ligue 1. If Messi manages to add at least seven assists in the final days, he will set the new record of assists in a season of the highest club competition in France.
Simply magical.
