new-york-mayor-eric-adams-has-tested-positive-for-covid-19,-his-spokesman-announced

The mayor of the city of New York, Eric Adams, tested positive for Covid-19, as confirmed by his spokesman, Fabien Levy. The announcement is made during his day number 100 in office.

Through a statement, Levy specified that The official woke up this Sunday with a harsh voice, so a PCR test was done, which was positive. Hours earlier, the spokesperson wrote on Twitter that Adams took a rapid test, which came back negative, but then an additional test was done.

“(Adams) Will immediately start taking antiviral drugs that are offered free of charge to New York City residents and encourages all New Yorkers eligible for these medications to also take them,” Levy said. “While self-isolating, he will continue to serve New Yorkers by working remotely.”

Adams contagion occurs amid a resurgence of Covid cases-10 during the last month, despite the decrease between February and March, which led to relaxation of the vaccination and mask use mandates. An average of 1,800 new cases per day has recently been recorded, representing triple the number at the beginning of March, not counting many positive home tests that they do not handle health officials.

The last events the mayor attended were at the Gridiron Club’s annual dinner in Washington, held last Saturday, where dozens of attendees tested positive, including Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsak, who announced it on Saturday.

Similarly, Mayor Adams made an appearance at the National Action Network convention last Wednesday, where he made some comments. He was also in the studio on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday. He then went to the ReelAbilities Film Festival, where he hung out with Robert De Niro and was at the New York Yankees opening game on Friday, reported NPR.
