A motorist stopped at a red light in Venice, Florida, watched in disbelief as an alligator from 10 feet crawled through several lanes of traffic, then disappeared under his truck.
However, the alligator was apparently too big to pass under your truck easily. “When I was probably three-quarters of the way under my truck, I felt a little movement or shaking underneath,” Daniel Jay Kaufman told McClatchy News.
“At that moment, the traffic light was already green and there were no cars in front of me. I couldn’t move because I didn’t want to hurt him under my truck. For a second, I thought he could stay there, “added Jay.
This curious incident occurred around 5 pm last Thursday, April 7, on Jacaranda Boulevard, while Kaufman was returning from work to his house. Venice is about 70 miles south of Tampa.
This is how the alligator appeared On foot
The first thing that caught Kaufman’s attention was seeing a Snap-on tool truck backing up. He then noticed that the traffic on the other side of the road had stopped.
Twenty or more feet away was a single very large alligator, missing a leg. Kaufman pulled out his cell phone and began recording, clearly amused by the sight, however things quickly took a terrifying turn.
The alligator was startled by a passing vehicle and began to crawl directly toward Kaufman’s vehicle.
“I was wondering if he was going to try to get in through my window. I didn’t know what was going through his mind,” he said. “I was in total shock at how big he was and how brave he was.”
Kaufman continued to record as the reptile walked towards him and then slid under his vehicle. It was then that he felt that he began to “tremble”. “I just moved my truck. Are you kidding me?” Kaufman is heard saying in the video.
