Jacob Klein was arrested in Tennessee on suspicion of harassing, torturing and killing Philip Rabadi, a physician assistant in upstate New York.
Rabadi, of 35 years, worked at St. Peter Hospital in Albany, capital of NY, and was found dead in the garage of his home in the town in nearby New Scotland on Wednesday 13 in April, after he failed to report for work, according to the County Sheriff’s Office. county.
Rabadi’s wife, Ellie Radin, who is also a medical assistant and worked with the victim on overlapping shifts, made the call at 911 that led to the gruesome discovery, authorities said.
Agents arrived at the couple’s home and found Rabadi “dead on the garage floor, bound and with multiple stab wounds and mutilations to his body,” said a press release obtained by New York Post.
Two days after the horrific murder, Tennessee authorities arrested Klein, of 40 years old, residing in the state of Virginia, from where he apparently traveled to Albany to commit the crime. The suspect is a medical assistant colleague and a “former acquaintance” of Rabadi’s wife, but she “didn’t know” that he had been harassing them in recent days, Sheriff Craig Apple said at a news conference released by NBC News.
“These investigators worked tirelessly without rest… We are glad that in 48 hours were able to obtain a warrant and take this person into custody,” said Sheriff Apple.
Klein was charged with second-degree murder and faced extradition to New York’s Albany County, where he was expected to face additional charges, authorities said. The motive for the crime is unclear.
Rabadi was a former student of Albany Medical College and SUNY Albany, a highly regarded and popular physician, dedicated to his work, family and friends, according to his obituary.
