Pedro Sánchez, President of the Spanish Government, announced in kyiv the shipment to Ukraine of 200 tons of military equipment on the Spanish Navy ship “Isabel”, which is on its way to Poland.

Sánchez made the announcement after meeting in the Ukrainian capital, together with President Volodymyr Zelensky, and said that the new military aid will be “the largest so far” by Spain, since it doubles what has been now received by kyiv.

The new contingent includes 30 trucks and 10 smaller vehicles, said the president of the Spanish Executive, who also promised to increase humanitarian aid, especially for minors”, part of which will be managed by Unicef.

“We must also fight against impunity, especially after visiting Borodianka. (And) respond to the request for support from the ICC (International Criminal Court) to investigate and prosecute those responsible for having committed war crimes”, he added at a press conference offered from kyiv.

Spain will also make available to Ukraine experts in multidisciplinary crime who are part of eight agencies of the Ministry of the Interior, including 36 forensic, specified.

The Spanish president was asked about his impressions after visiting Borodianka, where the Russians have allegedly committed war crimes, and if he would qualify these actions as genocide.

“We are not only talking about war crimes, but it will have to be the ICC that certifies if there has been a case of genocide here (…) but I have opened the door to it”, he said.
