James García was brutally beaten by a convict while walking his dog in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“As I was leaving the building, I heard from a distance, toward the ocean, someone screaming,” Garcia revealed.

According to the victim, a man he had never seen in his life approached him and asked him if he was gay, when he told him that the aggression did come .

“He punched me very hard. I fell to the ground bleeding. My phone was covered in blood. I couldn’t call 911. My fingers slipped,” he said.

The Fort Police Department indicated that two days after the attack, Maurice Antwan Charles, of 36 years old, who is known as “Big Jit” and “Big Youngster”, and indicated that in December of 2021 the aggressor was released from prison.

Maurice Antwan Charles was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2017 in Miami-Dade County, he also had an aggravated assault case in 2008 . His registered address is in Miami Gardens.

The blows received by the Hispanic required multiple stitches, including seven on the forehead and seven on the lip.

In addition, he had fractured cartilage on both sides of his nose from the blow. Despite the beating, he was able to identify his assailant thanks to the photos that the Fort Lauderdale Police Department presented to him of the suspect.

García believes that his assailant should go to prison for crimes of hatred for the attack: “This is a hate crime. If he was targeting me, someone else who he suspected was part of the LGBTQ community. Yes, definitely a hate crime.”

In addition, he revealed that since he received the beating, the image of the aggression does not come out of his mind: “I think of the attacker when I close the eyes. I can hear his voice, so those words will take time to heal.”

For now, it is unknown what sentence Maurice Antwan Charles will receive.
