CUNY Citizenship Now! celebrates its 25 anniversary while the New Americans Campaign celebrates 10 years. That is why they have come together to organize the largest in-person citizenship application event in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
The event, to be held this 30 April at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, is completely free and aims to help 250 green card holders to determine their eligibility for citizenship and a fee waiver.
The event will be attended by New York Secretary of State Robert J. Rodríguez, Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) Commissioner Manuel Castro, CUNY Vice Chancellor of Communications and Marketing Maite Junco, Interim Dean of CUNY School of Law Eduardo RC Capulong, Executive Director of ILRC, Eric Cohen, and the director of CUNY Citizenship Now! Allan Wernick.
Founded in 1997, CUNY Citizenship Now! has helped hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers on the path to US citizenship.
Those interested must have 18 years of age and have lived in the United States as a green card holder (permanent resident) for five years (or three years if married and living with a US citizen spouse)
