Luis Medina, aged , was involved in a brawl while handcuffed on a bed hospital, injured and arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman multiple times during a domestic dispute in the Bronx, police said.
A shocking police body camera video released by New York Post shows a barefoot suspect wearing only shorts looking at the officer and then attacking a nurse with scissors and challenging others, while still handcuffed to a hospital bed . Medina had suffered minor injuries during the domestic violence encounter with a woman from 41 years in 65 East Gun Hill Road and was taken to Bronx Hospital, according to the NYPD. At one point, the detainee abruptly grabbed a pair of scissors from a young nurse using his free left hand and hit her in the head, the video captured.
The nurse, who was not seriously injured, is seen running out of the room when Medina jumps out of bed still with his right wrist handcuffed and repeatedly tries to hit the policeman.
Medina then slips and falls as the officer pulls out his stun gun and shocks him before also running out of the room. Police later charged Medina with multiple counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
The unidentified woman he allegedly stabbed in the domestic dispute was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where she was in serious but stable condition, according to the NYPD. The relationship between the two is not clear.
