A vegan man aged 35 from England drinks every day 200 ml of his urine, he claims that the practice has cured his depression and makes him look much younger.
Harry Matadeen drinks most of his urine for a month and tops it off with fresh urine. In addition to drinking his urine, he also smears it all over his face. The British man says his skin is young, soft and luminous.
According to the Daily Mail, the man from Hampshire began to consume his own urine in 2016 because he was ‘desperate to cure’ his mental health issues. Matadeen claims that drinking the urine “woke up his brain” and eliminated his depression, leaving him feeling “a new sense of peace, calm and determination”.
Matadeen describes that aged urine smells bad and can take time to get used to the taste, while fresh urine has a neutral odor and is not bad taste “unless you are really toxic”.
The man points out that his sister rejects him, the family does not approve of his urine therapy, they find it a disgusting practice. You have chosen people close to you, friends who also consume urine or approve of the practice.
Medical evidence does not support that urine is an effective treatment to cure diseases
Urine is made up of water in a 91 -96 percent and the rest are salts, ammonia and by-products that have been filtered through the body as part of the body’s ongoing process of eliminating waste products.
Urine therapy advocates point out that it can function as a treatment for asthma, arthritis, allergies, acne, indigestion, migraines, wrinkles and even cancer.
Urine therapy, urophagia or urotherapy is a practice that it would have been practiced since ancient Rome, also in Greece and Egypt.
Winchester Hospital shares that some components of urine may have medicinal properties, “in particular, the urea that posses ee antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral characteristics”. However, no medical evidence supports that urine is an effective treatment to cure diseases.
According to Healthline, “Research suggests that drinking urine can introduce bacteria, toxins, and other harmful substances into the bloodstream. It can even put undue pressure on the kidneys.”
In a survival situation, Winchester Hospital notes that drinking urine may make sense, although the benefits would be temporary, as the kidneys stop producing urine as dehydration worsens.
