In the robbery that occurred on Saturday night 16 April at Gristedes Supermarket on 1343 Lexington Av, in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, two armed men took $4, dollars and tied up Hispanic employees, leaving them “shocked,” according to Castimatidis.

During a press conference, the businessman said he was fed up with crime in the city. “They entered one of our stores, tied up our manager and one of our cashiers and with guns to their heads they opened the safe,” he said.

“Enough is enough,” Castimatidis said, quoted by New York Post. “We have to straighten out our city… we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it any longer.”

NYPD confirmed the robbery and said the armed criminals are still at large. According to Catsimatidis, other stores in the chain have also been targeted by thieves and shoplifters, and he blamed the state’s lenient measures of controversial bail reform for freeing criminals to strike again.
