trevor-bauer-case:-from-winning-the-cy-young-to-being-close-to-saying-goodbye-to-his-career

Trevor Bauer’s future in Major League Baseball is hanging in the balance, after the Major League Commissioner announced his suspension for two seasons and 297 games for violation of the domestic violence and sexual abuse policy. In other words, if the right does not win its appeal, we would be talking about a possible early withdrawal.

In addition, Bauer’s star outlook is changing, since he went from winning the Cy Young Award in the National League in the 2020 with the Cincinnati Reds, to be one of the highest-paid arms in the Majors to announce his retirement early.

Many media outlets have brought up the subject of withdrawal, that the right is currently 31 years old and for 2024 when your suspension ends, you would have just completed the 33 years; an age that for a pitcher is very advanced due to the current competition.

In addition, two other key points should be highlighted, and that is that the one born in California does not climb a mound from 2028 June 2021. In short, the right-hander will not see action for more than 400 games, an alarming number to bet on a new contract.

The other is the violation of the domestic violence and sexual abuse policy, an issue that all Major League organizations widely avoid so as not to be in the eye of controversy, far from it risk losing a player on his roster due to this delicate issue.

For now, we will have to wait for the appeal of the right-handed gunsmith who, at the time of his complaint, had signed a million-dollar contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers for three seasons and in each of them, he was going to receive more than 30 millions of dollars.

In the strongest possible terms, I deny committing any violation of the league’s domestic violence & sexual assault policy. I am appealing this action and expect to prevail. As we have throughout this process, my representatives & I respect the confidentiality of the proceedings.— Trevor Bauer (トレバー・バウアー) (@BauerOutage) April 29, 2022

On the other hand, if Bauer’s absence finally materializes until 2024, the pitcher would finish with a record of 89 wins and 69 losses. Also, with 1,416 strikeouts in 1,297, 2 innings pitched for an ERA of 3.79 in ten seasons.

Regarding his track record, he has the aforementioned Cy Young Award in the National League, has attended an All-Star Game and was the leader in ERA. Lastly, he was part of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The example of Trevor Bauer will remain an example from now on, where a player is at the top and in a blink of an eye, you will be at the bottom. His future in the Majors will depend on his appeal and if he is not victorious, we would be talking about a near retirement despite his age.
