LOS ANGELES – A man arrested by the Border Patrol after entering the United States undocumented was handed over to Mexican authorities pursuant to an arrest warrant in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, where he is accused of enforced disappearance , reported today Friday the US Marshals Service.

Eiler Cruz Silva, of 18 years old, He was wanted by the police authorities in Mexico after he was formally accused of the forced disappearance of Marybell Valenzuela Herrera, a US citizen who lived in Ojinaga, Chihuahua.

According to a statement from the Marshals Service , last April 16 relatives alerted the police authorities in Mexico that Valenzuela Herrera was missing.

The investigation showed that Cruz Silva, a Cuban with legal residence in Mexico, was the last person to see Valenzue the, whose boyfriend was.

When the Mexican police authorities tried to locate him, the man had fled.

The past 16 April 2022, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended Cruz Silva in the Del Rio, Texas, after crossing the border illegally.

Cruz Silva was handed over to Mexican authorities this Thursday, the statement detailed.

The Marshals Service highlighted that “the coordination between the police authorities of the United States and the Mexican Republic demonstrates the dedication of both countries to obtain answers and justice for the family of Marybell Valenzuela Herrera”.
