Amanda Serrano was born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and has not forgotten her roots beyond having trained in Brooklyn for her successful boxing career. This Saturday she made history by facing Katie Taylor and forming the first female fight to lead a billboard at the majestic Madison Square Garden in New York.
As the challenger of the night, Serrano climbed first on the ring and did it with the famous musical theme ‘Pepas’ by the Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Farruko. A catchy beat that went viral all over the world.
While the song’s chorus played in the background:
Pepa and water for the dry one
To’ the world on a pill’ at the disco
Pepa and water for the dry one
To’ the world on a pill’ at the disco
Serrano was on her way to the ring accompanied by her promoter Jake Paul, dressed in white with red and blue details to form the Puerto Rican flag. He also wore a yellow and dark blue cap.
The entrance of Katie Taylor, who arrived as the undisputed lightweight champion at the boxing night, was also epic. She in a black outfit with gold and accompanied by her four belts.
