couple-marries-in-impromptu-wedding-on-southwest-airlines-plane-after-another-airline-cancels-flight-to-las-vegas

“Love is in the air” was what was literally experienced on a Southwest Airlines flight last Tuesday when the crew and travelers joined together to celebrate a symbolic wedding on the plane .

The airline shared a post on its Facebook account on Thursday that includes photos of the symbolic link of Jeremy and Pam Salda.

It turns out that the The couple had scheduled a trip with another airline to Las Vegas to formalize the marriage bond.

But, when the couple arrived from Oklahoma City to Dallas-Fort Worth, they had canceled the connection.

Chris Mitcham, another passenger who was a minister and who also planned to travel to Las Vegas, found out about the couple’s situation.

Everyone mobilized to find seats on a flight from Southwest that is supposed to take off in less than an hour from Dal at Love Field Airport.

“We got into an Uber and told him, ‘Look, we have to get to Love Field. Step on it,” the bride told AZ Central. “And so she did. He drove through the rain. It was wonderful. We got there and ran through the security screening area, me in the suit. He was grabbing the bags. And we got to the door, literally, when they were starting to board”, added the woman.

As the couple was dressed in their wedding attire: she in a white suit and the groom in a black evening dress, the pilot asked what was going on.

“Pam explained her story and joked with Captain Gil that they should get married on the plane. For the second time this week, Pam was surprised to hear the words, ‘let’s do it,’” the woman recounted.

The crew made toilet paper streamers and handed out bags of “snacks”; while a donut served as a cake.

The minister led the impromptu ceremony and flight attendant Julie Reynolds served as maid of honor. Among the travelers was a professional photographer who took photos of the event, and another passenger asked those present to sign a booklet with good wishes for the newlyweds.

Reynolds downloaded the song “Bridal Chorus” by Richard Wagner before the plane took off to set the scene for the ceremony.

With Mitcham’s video camera, the link was also recorded in the air.
