Juan Gabriel was not only a benchmark in the recording industry, in which he left a great legacy when he died in 2016, but he also became into a fashion icon, impacting celebrities like Harry Styles, who used it as an influence in their own wardrobes.
Now, the interpreter of ‘Hug me very tight’ was a source of inspiration for the creation of the new collection of the Mexican designer Benito Santos, who, wishing to honor his memory, made in September of 2021.
“It is a collection inspired by , I made charrería suits for him. I told the story of how I analyzed his life, from when he was very young, until he became this great artist who represented us in the world”, Santos mentioned to the media.
The creator of the fashion warned that it did not require the authorization of the family of the deceased singer, because he did not obtain any type of economic benefit.
“As long as you don’t have something commercialized, there is no problem. It’s a tribute I did. He is a man who, although he is no longer here, will continue with us through all time”, detailed the designer, recognized in Mexico for dressing personalities of the stature of the actress and former first lady, Angélica Rivera.
“Angélica Rivera gave visibility to my work when she wore garments abroad and it is something that I will always recognize and thank her for. So the bonds of friendship persist forever,” he mentioned.
