The Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano is already in the mythical Madison Square Garden to go in search of history against the Irish Katie Taylor. She will challenge the European Championship this Saturday night to win the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO women’s lightweight belts in the so-called fight of the century.
“I come with everything, except fear,” Amanda Serrano told the Efe agency on the eve of the fight against the Irish Katie Taylor. “Focus and consistency are key. I debuted in professional boxing in March of 2009 and I’m still focused, not looking back. I’m excited to say I ‘made it’”
Serrano (42-1-1, 30 KOs) and Taylor (30-0 , 6 KOs), are the current number 2 and 1 in women’s boxing. That is why they will make history by being the first fight in women’s boxing to lead a billboard at Madison Square Garden.
They will each win $1 million dollars net for the fight, an amount that will increase when they are distributed the profits from the ticket office and the proceeds from the payment for events.
“There is still a long way to go for equality in women’s boxing. My fight against Katie Taylor is the start of great things for future generations,” said the 33 year-old boxer.
