At least three people were killed by cars in NYC in the last three days in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn, leaving a disastrous average of one fatality each 11 hours.

This morning, a man was killed on a Brooklyn street when a car accident crushed him between two cars parked in Canarsie around 9: 30 am According to police, the victim unidentified 46 year old was standing between the two vehicles when a driver moving on East 89th Street collided with a double parked car.

The impact sent the parked car forward. the two vehicles between which the man was stopped. It was not immediately clear what caused the initial crash. The injured man was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police arrested the driver at fault and the investigation is ongoing, reported NBC News.

A day later, Fahri Boumechal, man of 82 years old, was killed by an empty school minibus in Murray Hill (Manhattan), when he was crossing 2nd Avenue on the street 37th around : 45 am yesterday Friday.

The incident occurred near the entrance of the Queens Midtown Tunnel, detailed the police. Boumechal suffered a massive head injury and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, but could not be saved.

The school bus driver was making a left turn onto 2nd Ave. from E .37th St. when he hit the old man. He remained at the scene and no criminal charges were immediately filed. There were no children on the bus, just another adult, indicated Daily News.

Previously, on Thursday afternoon a woman died after being hit by a luxurious Mercedes Benz while walking through a crosswalk in the Bronx. Medics took the victim to Jacobi Hospital with head and body trauma, but were unable to save her, the NYPD said.

The driver Savee Georges, aged 32 years and a resident of Co-op City, remained at the scene, was detained and charged with not yielding and not exercising due care, according to a police spokesperson quoted by Daily News.

In addition to gun violence, traffic accidents are another big challenge for the new mayor, Eric Adams, after a disastrous legacy from his predecessor, Bill de Blasio. New York City has experienced a 37% increase in traffic accidents in what this year, the NYPD said in mid-April.
