Vanessa Bryant announced this Friday some new boots from the Nike brand with which she will pay tribute to her daughter Gianna on what was her birthday 16. Bryant, who died along with his father Kobe last 26 January 2020 in a car accident helicopter.
Through a post on Instagram, Bryant announced the “Gigi Mambacita”, a special model as part of the sponsorship that Nike still maintains with the Bryant family that celebrates the “sweet sixteen” of Gianna.
“Thank you for celebrating Gigi’s 16 birthday with me. Gigi was always wise beyond her years, bringing joy and kindness to everyone around her and proving that basketball was more than just a sport. It was friendship. It was family”, he commented in the post.
These shoes have black and white and the inspiration for Nike to create them was the competitive spirit that Gianna had, which was reflected in a design with a leather of snake.
In addition, she also talked about the braids that include the shoes which, according to Vanessa, seek to inspire people to follow in Gigi’s footsteps.
“Custom braids inspire us to follow in Gigi’s footsteps. Tie your laces and show up every time and don’t take opportunities for granted,” she added.
Along with the pair of shoes that have the stamped number 2 that the player used in her collegiate stage, a red bracelet with the message “Play Gigis Way” was included.
In this way, this first of May will commemorate what would have been the 16 years of Gianna Bryant’s life, who was called to become a future WNBA player before her tragic passing.
