A grand jury in Louisiana could indict a couple with second-degree murder after their 36-year-old daughter was found dead on a couch in feces feces and urine.

For years, Lacey Ellen Fletcher suffered neglect and mistreatment from her parents Sheila and Clay Fletcher before she died of “severe chronic neglect.”

His body was found in the family home in Slaughter last January. The weight of the body was 96 pounds when officers discovered them dead.

The victim also had COVID-19, although it is not clear how he was exposed to the virus .

East Feliciana District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla told NOLA.com that the woman’s mother served in various municipal positions. Sheila, 64 years old, even replaced the mayor of Slaughter when he had to be absent from his work.

The couple has not expressed the circumstances of the case, but through their lawyer Steven Moore, they offered the following statements to WBRZ: “They do not want to alleviate the pain of losing a child through the media.”

The legal spokesperson added: “They have been through a lot of headaches over the years. Anyone who has lost a child knows what it is”.

In an interview last January, the Fletchers stated that their daughter was autistic and suffered from severe social anxiety.

Apparently, the woman remained for years on a sofa without moving.

A neighbor told this television station that the last time he saw the woman outside was about five or six years ago.

Lacey had not been seen by doctors since 2010. The parents alleged that she refused to leave the sofa even to go to the bathroom.

“The question on everyone’s mind is, ‘how were they caregivers living in the house with her? and they let it get to a condition like that?’” questioned D’Aquilla said.

Victim’s body had multiple ulcers on her back that nearly ate through the bone. In addition, her hair was matted and full of worms.

Also, several bacterial infections were detected.
