In broad daylight, one block from an NYPD station, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot in the head on Manhattan’s Upper West Side .
According to reports, an altercation led to the attack around 12: 15 pm in the street 101 and the avenue Amsterdam.
The precinct 24 NYPD is one block away.
The man whose name has not been released was pronounced dead at the scene and the attacker fled, while a woman was at the scene crying inconsolably, The New York Post reported.
The man died in the driver’s seat of a white van and his body was covered with a sheet, while evidence was collected and the room was taken to the coroner.
The NYPD is looking for the suspect who shot his rival, but there are no details of what caused the confrontation.
The act occurs in the midst of a plan by Mayor Eric Adams to try to reduce crime, both on the streets and in the Subway, where there have been several attacks.
In the first 100 days of his administration, Adams faced an increase of 14% in crime, while trying to advance his plan to “firm hand” against crime, in amid criticism from activists fearing that NYPD abuses would hit black and Latino populations.
