A Florida state prosecutor who was on trial for a shooting at the Club Blu nightclub in southwest Florida was found dead at his home; however, murder is ruled out, according to the state attorney’s office.
“They have no reason to believe a murder occurred,” the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported. speaking to Fox 4 News on the death of prosecutor Anthony Kunasek. The information was also corroborated by the communications director of the State Attorney’s Office. However, both sources refused to provide further details.
For her part, state prosecutor Amira Fox issued a statement on Kunasek’s death, highlighting that he was an extremely important and beloved member of the State Attorney’s Office team for many years.
“He was an excellent and talented attorney, and his work helped keep Southwest Florida a safe place to live. I express my deepest condolences to his family and request that you allow his family and friends to grieve in private at this time,” Fox said.
Kunasek was the lead prosecutor in the shooting case of the Club Blu nightclub on July 25 2016, where the teenagers Steph’ an Strawder, aged 18, and Sean Archilles, aged 14, were killed in the middle of a dispute between gangs.
The main suspect in the case was identified as Kierra Russ, of 24 years. The trial is expected to continue Monday morning.
