The Mexican authorities arrested this Sunday the alleged intellectual author of the murder of two Canadian citizens, last 21 January 2022 inside a hotel in the Playa del Carmen resort.
The subject identified as Oscar Iván “N” has a warrant of arrest. apprehension for homicide and attempted homicide, according to the statement.
The Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of the Government of Mexico reported that through a follow-up of the case and the joint work of the Attorney General’s Office of Quintana Roo and the SSPC, through the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination (Conase), “it was possible to identify two people who were followed up by the National Intelligence Center (CNI)”.
According to what was outlined by the EFE news agency, Mexico has been registering attacks by armed groups in the country’s tourist areas for months; Only in the state of Quintana Roo, a tourist destination in Mexico due to the Riviera Maya and Cancun, a total of 651 intentional homicides.
That 21 of January, the authorities reported that “derived from the report of firearm shots inside the Xcaret hotel, three people were reported injured, derived from a discussion between hotel guests,” said the Secretary of Public Security of the state of Quintana Roo, Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez in a first message via twitter.
After the investigations, the prosecution revealed that one of the murdered persons had a criminal record for drug trafficking, use of false identity , among other crimes.
